Laughing at the Moon

I was never born to be

Anyone except myself

Never born

To be a decaying English poet

With whisky breath

And greying hair

 Never born

To be an angry young man

 With lips twisted in disgust

Multi-coloured badges pinned to a coat

 No

 I was born beneath

 The dark twin stars

Of logic and responsibility

Even my dreams

Are tinged with reality

 No

 I was never born

To laugh at squares like me

Never born

To laugh at the moon
